Showing excellent sales and pending sales numbers, the Sarasota real estate market continues to improve. The Sarasota Association of Realtors released April sales today and they were even better than March sales. With 757 sales, the market recorded the highest total in almost 5 years. In addition, pending sales were at their highest level in four years.
The expiration of the homebuyers tax credit surely fueled the real estate market in Sarasota as it “hit the highest total sales in almost five years.” Sales were 50% higher than April 2009. Pending sales were strong and rose to the highest total in the past four years.
President of SAR, Eric Shumway said in the SAR press release that “there was clearly a sense of urgency in April, reflected in higher closed sales as well as contracts written, as buyers attempted to purchase properties before the expiration of the homebuyer tax credits.” “There is a lot of enthusiasm and optimism among local real estate agents that the trend will sustain in the months to come.”
